English Pointer in the Field, Late 19th Century Oil Painting

Offered is a very nice late 19th century sporting genre scene of an English Pointer in the field. This oil on board is unsigned but obviously done by the hand of a trained artist. This painting is nicely framed and is in good condition with craquelure consistent for its age. The painting measures 9 1/4" x 14 3/4" and the period, and likely original, frame measures 12 1/2" x 18 1/4". On the verso is written M. Taylor, April 1891. Purchased at an estate sale, the seller advised M. Taylor was the artist but we can find no information to confirm this. With such a common name we have been unable to further identify this artist.
