Fine California Impressionist Landscape by Listed Artist Carl Zimmerman.

Beautiful California impressionist painting executed by listed artist Carl Zimmerman (1870-1947). Written on the verso is "Springtime in Benedict Canyon Calif. by Carl Zimmermann Laguna Beach, Calif 1938". Benedict Canyon Drive in Los Angeles begins at famous Mulholland Drive and ends at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Rodeo Drive. A wonderful painting of a famous LA canyon before being developed by Hollywood's elite.

This is a 13" x 19" original oil painting on board. The painting surface is in very good condition. The artist in the lower right corner signs the work. Sold unframed.

From Askart, "Born near St Polten, Austria on Sept. 8, 1870. Zimmerman (né Carolus Zimmermann) immigrated to the U.S. in 1906 and soon settled in southern California. With a home in Pasadena, he worked in Los Angeles doing architectural and furniture woodcarving for wealthy residents. He also taught woodcarving in the public schools of Santa Ana. He later had a studio-home in Laguna Beach at 1130 N. Coast Blvd and died there on Sept. 8, 1947. An Impressionist, he used a light palette and small brush strokes to create landscapes of southern California and Yosemite".
