1960's Lace dress, Edwardian revival, party dress, wedding dress.
Part of the whole Edwardian craze in the 60's, the Gunne Sax dresses, the Laura Ashley dresses, I loved them all. This one is by a hard to find designer, St. Simon, Made in the USA!! I wouldn't call it a Hippie dress, but Hippies would have loved it.
I hope the pictures show the beauty and high quality of the dress. It was an elegant fashion era, so feminine. It is pale peach color, you could bleach it and it would make a fabulous vintage wedding dress!
It is all cotton, the lace is a sturdy medium weight over a light cotton muslin gauze. The bodice floats over the drop waist, just look at the way the lace hangs! Elbow length sleeves with ties, a tie in the back, center back zipper with metal pull. It would be tea length or ankle length on most women.
It is in excellent condition, no stains, a few loose threads, it will hold up for another 40 or 50 years easily! Clean and ready to wear. It is marked a size 8, Bust 36 1/2", Waist 34" Hips - Free. My model has a bust of 35". The garment has some give.
Stunning and eye catching, (it caught the eye of Mr. Bigglesworth). Garden party, tea party, or boating on the river, it's very Downton Abbey.
