14K WG 4.85cts Tanzanite & Diamond Ring, Engagement, GIA

She invested in many fine pieces from Fields. This is magnificent, simply magnificent. It would make a spectacular and unique engagement ring, along the lines of Princess Diana and Princess Kate. One could get lost in that blue color!

Circa 70's, it is 14K white gold (5.2 grams) set with one emerald cut tanzanite, 3.7cts. A very blue color with just a tinge of purple. There are 14, full cut diamonds, VS1, G-H color with a total weight of 1.15cts. All this information is from an appraisal done in 1992.

The tanzanite gem is of the highest quality, Slightly violetish blue 7/3 = Dark tone, very slightly grayish saturation. The appraisal is 20 years old, so the grading system of letters and numbers has changed a bit. There is no mention of inclusions of any kind and I see none, it has wonderful clarity. It is a fabulous stone! A 7 rating for tone is "off the charts" literally!

The ring is presently around a size 6 and easily sized. The face of the ring measures 5/8" north to south and 3/4" east to west and stands 1/2" off the finger.

You will receive the vintage Marshall Fields box with the ring and the appraisal. My pictures do not do it justice. Any pink you see is just reflected color in the very white diamonds. The ring is absolutely brilliant on the hand.
