Antique skirt with lace panels.
Downton Abbey, Season 1
Amazing condition, perfectly sturdy and wearable!
The construction is fabulous. At the hook and eye closure at the waist, there is a lace panel gusset that attaches to the other side with a series of snaps, making it totally hidden and the pattern of the skirt is unbroken and symmetrical.
It is a heavy cotton lace and the other panels are woven with a heavy cotton thread. The back of the skirt is longer, the sweep is so elegant.
You could wear any color of under slip to show through the lace, depending on your mood.
An authentic costume for a theatrical production. In remarkable condition, some loose threads, I see no other flaws. Could be used for the Edwardian era, too.
Waist 25", Length to Hem in front 37", in back, 44".
It's not terribly tiny for something that's over 100 years old! Wear it over a full length sheath for a devastating effect!
