Whitby Jet Cameo Necklace, Outstanding Victorian Mourning Jewelry

There is nothing quite like Whitby jet, the blackness, the smooth texture, the lightness and ease of wear, it's simply some of the best jewelry ever!

This necklace has a beautiful shell carved cameo as the centerpiece. The chain is made of graduated size ovals, it is utterly FABULOUS!! There are a few small flakes or smooth chips in the chain, one larger one, but they do not detract or affect the stability of the piece.

The largest oval is over 3/4" long. The cameo is 1 11/16" north to south. There is no clasp, it slips over the head, the chain is 29" to 30" long with a beautiful, smooth disc above the cameo drop.

Whitby Jet is VERY hard to find, and a piece of this size...well, you might find one every few years if you spend ALL your time looking...
