Never have I seen a European, Antique Victorian bracelet in this style.
It is a gold stretchy! The links move and slide on springs to allow you to put it on and then they slip back into place. Don't get me wrong, I love bangles as much as the next person (possibly much, much more) but to have a gold bracelet that hugs the arm and stays in place, well, some days you just want that feeling of security.
This came from a Milwaukee estate, I will be adding a few more things from this estate. Her collection is being sold by her elderly great, great nephew. She collected most of her jewelry in the early to mid 1800's. Her nephew says that he remembers seeing a picture of her, wearing some of this jewelry and she is standing next to Abraham Lincoln.
This bracelet is as beautiful as it is unique. The seed pearls glow, the tourmaline is bezel set and open backed and is the most lovely shade of green. The bracelet is stamped Patent and 9ct (the European mark for gold). The stone is oval cut, 7mm by 5mm and so it is roughly .9cts.
The expandable bracelet will fit a wrist up to 7" without being stretched. It feels wonderful on the arm and looks 100 times BETTER in person!
