40's 50's Vintage Hooded Opera Coat, Black Silk Velvet, Sequin Trim

Hummmm... Today, I will appear as a flowing silhouette on the moors, scanning the misty landscape, calling out for Heathcliff. Or, perhaps I am Miss Stapleton, the dark, Latin beauty from the "Hound of the Baskervilles". It's a moonlit night, I look mysterious and spectacular...it's all good...

An evening coat like this can spark the imagination and turn any day into an extraordinary experience. Black velvet, floor length, beautifully made, it's magical. The hood drapes gracefully over the head and spreads across the shoulders. It is trimmed in sequins, a floral trim, red roses. On the inside of the cape are embroidered initials, JRF, you can see flashes of the initial as the wearer walks through the room. Josephine Rose Fitzgerald...It was custom made...So elegant...

It is in remarkable shape, fully lined. Silk Velvet, medium weight, princess seaming in the back. The velvet covered buttons slip through hidden loops on the other side, 3/4 length sleeves. There are ties on the inside of the cape and I think they are supposed to be tied around the waist. I see no stains or holes or tears. The lining has separated at the seam on the inside by one sleeve, easily repaired, other than that, it looks to be mint.

It fits my model well, 53" from shoulder to hem. Bust 36-37" Waist 37" Hips 39". The buttons could be set over to give you and extra inch or inch or a bit more, but then, there would be very little overlap. The trim is 1 1/2" wide with three colors of sequins. It is clean and ready to wear.

A magnificent garment, fit for the glamorous heroine in us all.
