American sterling silver crumb tray in the Violet pattern by Wallace Silversmiths, c.1904.
This exquisite and very scarce tray has Art Nouveau violet and scroll decorations on a shaped body. The tray weighs 178 grams or 5.7 ozs. Troy and is 9" - 6 7/8"
We have never seen, nor, apparently has anyone else, Holloware in the Violet pattern. The pattern number 1170 is struck on the bottom of the tray as well as sterling and the Wallace mark, R W deer head & S.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
