American coin silver fish serving knife by Albert Coles of New York City. c.1865, with a twist handle and bright cut decorations on the blade and the handle.
The blade has 16 piercings and an unusual scalloped edge.
This handsome server measures 11 5/8" long and weighs 109 grams or 3.5 ozs Troy.
The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
Monogrammed JMT in an ornate period script, the soft, warm, original antique finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
