This beautiful pin in the shape of a heart with a crown is called a Luckenbooth brooch. It is a traditional Scottish love token, and is often given as a wedding or betrothal pin. It is decorated with a glass millefiori cabochon. I believe that the glass was made by the Caithness glass company.
The pin measures 1 1/2 wide by 1 1/2 tall and 1/4 deep. The pin is in good vintage condition. The glass cabochon has a few tiny chips.
The back is hallmarked with C.J, a thistle, a castle, and a S. This tells me that the pin was made in Edinburgh 1973-74 Cycle XII, is made of sterling silver, and the maker is C.J.
