George Jones Hand Painted Porcelain Plate

Beautiful hand painted plate produced for the famous American jewelers, Bailey Banks & Biddle Co of Philadelphia, by the English Pottery firm of George Jones. This scene of a fish called Shard [ also Alosa of the Herring family ] was done by a well known British artist W Birbeck. Wikipedia has an interesting article regarding this species. The condition is perfect indicating it has always been a cabinet piece. The artists rendition is simply wonderful and a delicate accurate use of color. Add this plate to a collection of important examples of hand painted and decorated porcelain. This printed mark was used during the period 1874-1924. 8 3/4 " D
