18/19th Century transfer-ware Egg Cup

Charming example of a British custom. Boiled egg for breakfast in a heated egg cup. This cup shows the effect of an oven heated cup which always creates a mild form of crazing. The photos exaggerate this and cause the areas to show with a yellow tinge which is not correct and probably caused from the incandescent bulbs used for photography. The cup using the naked eye is quite white and the crazing is not a distraction . I was married to an English lady and she always put all china and serving pieces in the oven under very high heat to ensure that food placed in these items would stay hot while being served at a meal. A fine example of an early transfer-ware [ printed ] cup that's difficult to date and not marked by the maker. Most manufacturers did not mark such insignificant pieces of pottery.
