Antique Frozen Charlotte Dolls

A small collection of three (3) antique Frozen Charlotte dolls. One doll is made of china/bisque, and two feel more like pottery. Frozen Charlottes were prevalent during the 19th century, as reflected by the hair styles on these little gems

These little dolls are great accent pieces due to their diminutive size. THey are approximately 3 to 3-1/4 inches long. All have minor flaws, such as chipped feet or toes, but this is very common in this type of doll. There are no makers marks or marks of origin. One doll was apparently painted, and this has been taken into consideration in pricing.

Frozen Charlottes, originally called bathing dolls, got their name from a story about a young lady who wouldn't listen to her mother, and traveled to a winter gala without her overcoat because she wanted everyone to see her beautiful dress, but upon her arrival, was found frozen. Now where did I put my coat....
