They are carved and painted on the back of a wooden box or crate that has advertising on it. It is early 20th c. advertising (see photo). The chip carved and then painted scenes depict daily life in the Adirondack mountains with people walking in the woods.
Both paintings have a carved signature with the name, "B. Gliddon". The signature is located in the lower right hand corner in a carved cartouche on each painting.

Condition: Excellent. Age appropriate crazing of the paint.
