Blown and Acid Etched Glass Dome or Plant Cloche - Mid-19th Cent.

This early free blown and acid etched glass dome or plant cloche for a fern case has hearts, leaves and flowers trailing down the outside of the piece and dates from the mid-1800's.

The dome has a folded or rolled lip at the bottom and has a glass glob knob with hobnail decoration on the top of the piece.

As to condition there are NO cracks, chips, breaks or repairs. There are air bubbles and undissolved silica specks in the glass and there is some scratching at the shoulder of the dome (see photos). When tapped lightly with your fingernail the dome has a clear bell-like tone.

The dome is 8 & ½ inches tall and the bottom diameter is 7 & ¼ inches. The packed weight of the piece is 2 lb 8 oz.
