This is an exquisite rare Antique Sycamore Wooden Butter Stamp featuring a beautifully carved strawberry and leaf design. There is a decorative fluted border carved around the outside edge. The patina is beautiful after so many years of being used, and the carving is deep and well defined. Butter stamps were used to identify which farm or dairy made the butter and are a great addition to any collection of dairy items, or treenware. There is an old split in the stamp which can be expected with a butter stamp being 150 years old. Beautiful patina. Ca. 1860 Measures" 3" diameter, 3 3/4" to top of handle
