Antique French Majolica Sarreguemines Jug

This is a beautiful Antique French Majolica Jug made by Sarreguemines. Sarreguemines is well known for its faience and majolica and is often called the French Wedgewood. This jug is a golden yellow color and the lower half is impressed with a wicker basket weave pattern. This basket weave has a top edge with a rope design as does the top edge of the jug and the details around the handle. This is a beautiful display piece and I have never seen another one like it. It has a beautiful aqua interior and is stamped on the base with the maker's name impressed and stamped on the base along with a number that I can't make out the last digit, but the first three numbers are 531. The jug is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. There is light crazing which is to be expected with antique majolica.
