Lenox Belleek Brown and Black Tankard
This is a very unusual piece of American Belleek. The tankard is 7 1/4" tall, has parallel sides 4 1/4" in diameter, has an applied handle, and white interior. The outside is glazed in shades of medium brown, and then painted, .probably by hand. The surface is so muted, I can find no signature, unless Mohs, the name on the bottom, is the artist. The subject is trees, in different styles, done in black. These black trees, silhouetted against the brown, makes a most interesting, subdued, surface. The bottom is marked Mohs, 1911, with the script L Lenox mark, and Belleek. The brown surfaced do have a few minor spots where the white ceramic is showing. These are very minor; look at the photos.
