Signed Bronze Cup, Nubian Woman
This piece is way beyond a head vase. It is 6 1/4" tall, and up to 3 1/2" in diameter. The base is designed as a black woman's shoulders. She wears a long coiled brass neck ring, making her neck appear exceedingly long. She has a proud face, and her hair is plaited, and pulled back in a long bun, wrapped with more coils of brass. She wears large hoop earrings, and on top of her head, she balances a large basket, the cup. The back carries the maker's mark which we cannot fully read. It looks like "Cape T...., or Gpe T...." It is in excellent condition, and a true piece of art.
