Fabre's Book of Insects, Illustrated by E.J. Detmold, 1921, 1939

This book, Fabre's Book Of Insects, is "Retold from Alexander Teixeira De Mattos' Translation of Fabre's "Souvenirs Entomologiques", by Mrs. Rodolph Stawell. Fifteen insects, Sacred Beetle, Cicada, Praying Mantis, Glow-Worm, Mason Wasp, Psyches, Spanish Copris, Grasshopper, Wasps, Grubs, Cricket, Sisyphus, Capricorn, Locusts, and Anthrax Fly, are all covered in detail. Twelve wonderful color illustrations, by EJ Detmold, are included. The book, green cloth with gold ink, is 271 pages, in a 7 3/4" X 10 1/4". Condition is Fine+ with crisp corners, and looking like new. Several of the opening pages have owner's red ink stamp, but not the plates. An esoteric volume, certain to appeal to the bug lovers out there.
