Manufacturer: Gorham . . . which at one time was the largest silver company in the world. Gorham was formed in 1813 by Jabez Gorham. In 1860 his son, John, toured Europe hiring many of the very best silversmiths to come to Gorham. In 1880 C. Antoine Heller joined Gorham and became a force within the silver world.
Then in 1891 they hired William C. Codman who in 1895 designed Chantilly, the world's most popular flatware pattern.
Over the years they acquired such renowned companies as Whiting Mfg. Co, Durgin, Mt. Vernon, Alvin, etc. Today they are known as "Gorham Corporation".
Design/Pattern: King Edward was designed in 1936 by J. Russell Price.
