Elegant Vintage Whiting & Davis Soldered Mesh Purse Accented Clasp
Since its founding in 1896, Whiting & Davis has continued to manufacture jewelry and accessories of the utmost quality and highest standard of design.
As you can see, this beautiful little purse is has been created with minuscule and delicate chainmaille to create an extremely fine mesh.
The mesh feels so sensuous; we can't help running our fingers over it to feel its wonderful texture.
As you can see, the fine mesh is suspended from a classic frame which is ornamented with an elegant impressed design with linear designs and stylized florals.
You will notice that the mesh is affixed to the bottom of the frame with incredibly delicate wire.
Three decorative brass balls hang from the lightly scalloped bottom of the mesh handbag and give it excellent balance in addition to a nice finishing touch.
The frame opens and closes securely on a classic two-ball clasp. The clasp is characterized by two glass "balls" at the top in a complementary shade of Royal blue.
You can see that the clasp and glass components show a fair degree of wear and verdigris.
Finally, a stylish chain emanates from loops on each side of the frame and will allow you to display and carry the piece with great ease.
Stamped marks on the interior of the frame read "Whiting & Davis" and "Soldered Mesh" respectively.
Despite some expected oxidization to the clasp and a bit of darkening, this lovely vintage Whiting & Davis mesh purse remains in good condition overall.
