This astonishing antique brooch is beyond unique. It features stunning craftsmanship and style pervaded by an exotic Middle Eastern motif.
This is another piece from an amazing estate of a Colonel stationed in Berlin in WWII. His wife's jewelry collection is amazing and we snapped up the best pieces we could get.
The brooch is decorated with stunning applied Arabic calligraphy at the center.
As you can see, the background is pervaded by delicate "cabled" filigree which gives the piece a sensational degree of dimension and texture.
It is rendered in a middle-grade silver, likely between 750 and 850. It has been professionally tested.
The oblong centerpiece is bordered by several large dome shapes that create a unique, dynamic frame.
You find an old-fashioned "C"-style brooch clasp on the reverse which will give you a number of options for wearing and displaying the brooch.
A small maker's mark can be found on the reverse of the brooch above the brooch clasp.
We think this piece would make an incredible pendant if strung on a chain or ribbon.
The brooch exhibits a good deal of expected oxidization and some wear.
A few areas exhibit some mottled darkening and a few minor surface scratches.
Overall, this exceptionally unique brooch remains in good antique condition.
It will make an excellent addition to any eclectic collection. Measurements:
