We LOVE vintage lockets. This one is a great size at just over 1" tall.
This romantic little beauty is from the famed S. O. Bigney Company and features intricate details, glittering glass rhinestones and a lustrous 14 karat gold-plated finish.
S. O. Bigney (for Sidney O. Bigney) was founded in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and manufactured high quality jewelry from 1896 to 1946.
This is a beautiful example of the Bigney Company's lasting contribution to the world of vintage jewelry.
As you can see, the locket is a class round shape and boasts incredibly dimensional florals, leaves and textures on the front.
While each five petaled flower is accented with a shimmering Kelly-green rhinestone, each leaf is ornamented with two brilliant, colorless rhinestones.
There is an uninscribed diamond shaped cartouche at the center. The obverse side of the locket remains wonderfully smooth.
When opened, you can see the negative image of the stamped floral design that accents the front of the locket.
There are two unoccupied spaces inside just waiting for your own personal photos.
A small stamped mark on the interior frame of the locket's front reads "SOB & Co".
The piece has been professionally tested to ensure the purity of the gold-plate.
You will notice that the locket shows a bit of expected oxidization which gives the high-relief florals a great sense of depth and dimension.
The locket exhibits some surface scratching while the interior shows a fair amount of darkening and a bit of blackened glue, this darling S. O. Bigney locket remains in good vintage condition overall.
