Incredible Knights of Pythias Watch Fob With Solid Gold Chain

We are thrilled to offer this extraordinary antique watch fob which features an incredibly array of highly-symbolic details and includes a dazzling solid 14 karat yellow-gold chain.

As you can see, the pendant features a tri-color enamel crest at the center which features the letters "F", "C", and "B" in blue, yellow and red, respectively.

These three letters stand for the Pythian motto of "Friendship, Charity, and Benevolence".

This is the insignia of the Knights of Pythias, a secret fraternal society founded in Washington, D.C. in 1864.

The fraternity was founded by composer Justus Rathbone, who was inspired by the centuries-old legend of Damon and Pythias.

Other notable members of the Knights of Pythias include Franklin D. Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding and Louis Armstrong.

While the tri-color symbol is typically depicted with a knight's helmet at the center with an eagle perched on top, this one features an applied gold skull-and-crossbones.

Better yet, a beautifully detailed three-dimensional knight's helmet and eagle are depicted on top of the triangular pendant.

It is flanked by two crossed axes.

As you can see, the knight, eagle and axes are rendered with great realism.

The knight's helmet is beautifully articulated, meaning it can move up and down.

The knight, eagle and crossed axes are plated with 12 karat yellow gold.

The cross bar and bales are solid 9 karat rose gold while the two clasps and chain are solid 14 karat yellow gold.

Each piece has been professionally tested to ensure the purity of the gold.

The opposite side of the pendant features another applied symbol which consists of a dagger lying on top of an open book.

This is the secret society's "Book of Law" under which new initiates are sworn in.

A textural bale on top of the eagle is where the pendant is suspended from a divine gold box chain.

The ends of the chain culminate in a spring-ring clasp and classic watch-clasp.

A small mark impressed into the watch-clasp reads "Simmons". Simmons was founded in Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1873, by Robert Fits Simmons and specialized in symbolic, fraternal jewelry as well as elegant fine jewelry.

We rarely see fobs with such unusual symbolism and extraordinary detail.

This beauty shows only a small amount of oxidization, small dark spots around the pendant, and a few light surface scratches.

Overall, it remains in excellent antique condition.
