If you keep up with the trends like we do you'll know that it's all about the regal British Equestrian look this season.
This gorgeous vintage riding helmet is a fun, funky accessory that's as collectible as it is kicky.
These older hunter/jumper helmets do NOT meet the safety standards of the contemporary helmets; so this should ONLY be used as a fashion accessory, costume, or for display.
This beauty has the classic look of most traditional riding helmets.
It features a hard protective shell which is covered with luxe black velvet.
Six seams around the crown culminate under a velvet-covered dome on top of the helmet.
Inside, you will find that the helmet is lined with beautiful black satin.
A portion of the lining features elastic and a drawstring making it easily adjustable, as it is critical that equestrian helmets fit snuggly.
You will find the original manufacturer's mark imprinted on the underside of the crown which depicts a mounted rider and reads "Merkin's 113 So, 13th St., Philadelphia".
A small size tag is affixed to the satin lining and reads "6 7/8".
Finally, a little black grosgrain bow at the back of the helmet makes the ideal finish touch.
Traditionally, black ribbons were worn for fox hunts, while red ribbons were used during stag or arme blanche hunting (hunting with swords).
Unlike modern riding helmets, this piece embodies the traditional look of English riding headgear beautifully.
With only some minor wear this gorgeous equestrian helmet remains in spectacular vintage condition.
This is a fun and collectible piece that we know you'll love as much as we do.
