We are thrilled to present this incredible antique Bible stand. The stand features beautiful details and areas of brilliant genuine 12 karat yellow gold-plating.
This is really an amazing beauty and is very, very substantial.
The stand was manufactured by the W. J. Feeley Company and is fully hallmarked.
Founded in the mid 1870's in Providence, Rhode Island as, W. J. Feeley specialized in jewelry, silver and ecclesiastic paraphernalia.
The company functioned until 1920, putting the manufacturing-date of the Bible stand somewhere in the early 20th century.
The stepped base of the stand is rendered in heavy brass; the bottom most tier of the platform has been plated in a thin, shimmering coat of beautiful 12 karat gold.
The piece has been professionally tested to ensure the purity of the gold.
As you can see, four beautifully detailed angels hold up the top piece.
Each angel is rendered in solid bronze and, while they exhibit some wear and slight finish loss, they were once completely plated with 12 karat gold.
The top-most portion of the stand (where the Bible rests) is made of brass and features a wonderfully smooth finish with soft, rounded corners.
You will find several maker's marks imprinted on the lowest tier of the platform.
The first of these marks is the W. J. Feeley Company logo followed by an inscription reading "W. J. Feeley Co, Prov. R.I." The final mark, which reads "8759", is likely a style number.
Despite some minor finish loss in several areas and some expected wear, this dazzling and ornate Bible stand remains in very good antique condition.
This is a truly rare piece that will make a striking addition to your collection.
