Antique 9 Karat Gold & Bloodstone Spinning Watch Fob
A fob like this one would hang on a watch chain, adding balance and a bit of elegant charm. This one is a real beauty, and the stones are a really fantastic size.
Bloodstones (also called heliotrope) are characterized by deep red "speckles" on a forest green background. They have long been a symbol of justice and change.
The carnelian is a beautiful complement to the colors in the bloodstone and the deep yellow of the gold. It's wonderfully smooth while boasting a really rich, deep shade of sienna-red.
The centerpiece rotates on a solid gold bracket that holds it at both sides. This bracket features two parallel bars on each side and a free-moving bale at the top.
There are several very small die-stamped maker's marks on the bracket, the first of which reads "9". This if followed by a mark reading ".375" (indicating the 9 karat gold-weight).
The fob has been professionally tested to ensure the purity of the gold.
The bezel shows a few light dents while one side shows a substantial amount of cracking and gold-loss. All of the gold shows a lovely, light patina which is commensurate with the age of the piece.
The fob remains in fair antique condition, but continues to shine brightly with timeless Victorian style.
