This lovely antique perfume bottle is a shining example of meticulous craftsmanship and old-world elegance. It has wonderful colors and the sweetest personality.
Originally intended for a lady's chatelaine, it features a beautiful brass chain emanating from each side of the hinged brass cap.
In the era, chatelaines held all of the lady of the house's necessities; this included scissors, a watch, keys, and frequently, a bottle containing her favorite scent.
Crafted in such a way that it will not stand on its own; the bottle would just have easily lain gracefully upon the lady of the house's dressing table.
This exquisite antique bottle takes an elegant round shape. The translucent green body has been masterfully embellished with a floral pattern in shades of white, green, pink and yellow enamel.
The enamel is slightly raised and plays sensually upon the fingertips.
The hinged brass cap is affixed to the top of the bottle, the top of which is adorned with a stamped geometric floral pattern.
Upon opening the brass lid, the original glass stopper remains intact and nestled within the bottle (this is a very rare occurrence in glass chatelaine bottles this old).
A chain is attached to each side of the brass lid collar and is held with a twisted brass ring (where the wearer would have attached the bottle to their chatelaine). This may be a replacement ring and chain, but it is difficult to tell because of the way the chain ends are finished with a attached "o" ring.
There are only a few minor areas of wear and enamel loss and the bottle remains in remarkable antique condition with a singular elegant design and unique and whimsical beauty.
