ca 1920's Teeny Steel Beaded Coin Purse, ca. 1920 France

It’s made of minuscule brass and steel beads hand-applied in a brilliant geometric array. The brass beads on the reverse remain unpainted, letting their original color shine through.

The front of the coin purse is adorned with steel beads that have been painted with an charming shade of rosy pink. The rectangles are a yellow/gold color. The small stripes of gray on the reverse are made up of unpainted steel.

A “V” shaped clasp allows the purse to be securely closed and is held in place with a small mother-of-pearl button.

The interior is lined with cream-colored silk and has an embossed mark which reads “Made In France”, though the upper edge is splitting. The silk has pulled away from one side of the interior, but the little purse is just so cool, it doesn't detract.

The exterior of the bag exhibits some wear, particularly to the corners. It isn't damage, but looks to be slightly darkened from handling, but in otherwise very good vintage condition.

The colors are wonderful. This little coin purse is so dainty and feminine and would have fit perfectly in a flapper bag. It has a wonderful tactile feel because the steel and brass beads are so tightly sewn and tiny.

If you are a purse collector, this will make a wonderful addition. It is lovely and sweet and has a great weight to it for its size.
