What makes this such an incredible find is these French Cut Steel purses emerged in the French market in the mid-1800s.
These purses with the various colors are also rare as well as the design pattern. All of these elements make this a very collectible addition to any antique handbag wardrobe.
These French designed bags hit the American market in the early 1900s, circa 1910.
The bag features an exquisite chased-brass frame opening with a darling medallion, push release clasp.
A simple, corrugated rolo chain emanates from each side and allows for secure and easy carrying or display.
The body of the handbag is comprised of thousands of hand-applied, cut-steel beads. Most of these are gray while several, in hot pink, are arranged in an artful pattern.
Finally, at the bottom you'll notice dozens of dangling strands of beads, creating a simple, attractive fringe.
This particular bag has rare colors of pink and a lighter pink. The cut steel beads are chemically dyed typically in shades of gold, silver and bronze.
To find the beads in other colors enhances the collectability of these bags.
The interior is lined with dazzling iridescent silk in fluctuating shades of blue and green.
The silk has started to separate in the inside center and someone wrote their name in a small area at the base of the side of the inside frame.
It is very common to reline these bags with new silk because it does deteriorate with age.
