Incredibly Rare Larger-Than-Life Vintage "Halston of Bergdorf Goodman" Derby Hat

From edge to edge, this beauty measures an astounding 31 inches wide.

The first Halston millinery shop was opened in Chicago in 1953 where the clientele included Gloria Swanson, Deborah Kerr, and others A-list celebrities.

Founder Roy Halston Frowick worked for famed designer Lily Daché before acquiring the position of head milliner of Bergdorf Goodman in 1958.

As you can see, this monumental hat is made of tightly-coiled, high-quality straw in a light, natural color. The crown is tiny compared to the enormity of the brim.

It hat has a fantastic amount of pliability and movement while retaining its shape wonderfully.

A small interior cap allows the hat to be worn comfortably and securely.

Three plastic faux-tortoiseshell combs (one large and two slightly smaller) will also help keeping the hat perfectly in place.

You will find that the underside of the brim and interior of the small cap are lined with airy netting for a bit of added protection.

A narrow ribbon of yellow-taupe grosgrain lines the interior of the cap.

The original maker's label remains securely stitched to the hat and reads "By Halston of Bergdorf Goodman".

The top of the hat shows some minor, expected wear including a few light spots here and there. We have had this professionally cleaned and re-shaped by the best of the best.

Overall, it remains in very good vintage condition.

This is the kind of stand-out hat that really makes a collection.

We doubt seriously that we will ever find another hat like this one. It is a treasure to be sure.
