Sweet Vintage Bronzed Baby Booty Bookends
We think these make a great gift for the expecting mother and make a wonderful addition to any nursery decor.
As you can see, each of the substantial bookends is adorned with a "bronzed" baby bootie.
"Bronzing" is a technique that involves applying a bronze-like surface to an otherwise non-bronze item, like baby shoes.
Sometimes a layer of heavy copper is applied to the surface to produce a very bronze-like appearance.
You will notice that these little boots are absolutely classic; the shoe-laces are even tied into a bow.
The pedestal on which each shoe sits has been given a "bronzed" finish and features an elegant combination of scrolling at the top with a gadrooned panel around the bottom.
The capital letter "R" has been engraved into the front of each bookend in Old-English script.
You will see a bit of age-expected wear to each piece including some minor spots of verdigris, darkening, and some tiny flea-bite scratches here and there.
Overall, this charming set of bookends remains in good antique condition overall.
