Tend the Garden HAR Black Eyed Daisy Enamel Brooch
The HAR enameled pieces are rare and hard to find.
The flowers petals consist of elegant white enamel embellished with gold-tone lining while the "pollen" consists of black enamel and a sumptuous cluster of sparkling black rhinestones.
HAR (short for Hargon Creations of New York) is somewhat of a mystery.
Much like several other 1950s and 60s companies, little is known about the owners and designers.
It is reported that Edith Levitt and Joe Heilbronner were the owners, and it is speculated they named the company for their children, Hans and Margo.
Exhibiting very minor enamel loss to minuscule areas of the enamel, the piece is clearly stamped with the Har hallmark on the reverse and is in very good vintage condition.
Given the short time in operation and the unique designs of HAR, the pieces are very collectible besides being just darling designs.
This piece has been repaired; the petals separated from the stem but have been glued back together with a clear cement.
Measuring 6cm tall and 4 ½cm at the widest point, the brooch weighs 21.1 grams.
