Siesta Ware pieces are so much fun! This is such a retro set, it cracks us up. We would definitely use this for company. The value of this set is in having the original cart. If you are a mid-century modern junkie, this is a must have set.
Perfect for Spanish coffee, this original set makes adds to the entire theme.
Patented by the Benner Glass Company in 1963, the glasses are typically characterized by having one or more brass bands looping around the top and/or bottom where a wooden handle is attached.
We were so thrilled to find this set complete with its wooden caddy complete with real working wheels. The mugs themselves boast the most gorgeous shade of brilliant orange. The interiors are a more translucent shade of white.
The caddy resembles a little wooden cart, with working brass-lined wheels. The glasses rest perfectly on it, and make for a pretty picture.
Each mug or cup features a scene depicting three bullfighters in different stances, facing charging bulls. The brass bands fit perfectly around base of the cup where a slight ridge has been cast to prevent them from moving.
The handles are not wood, but rather a cast-plastic finished resembling wood. This detail has prevented the mugs and their handles from wearing too much over the years.
Every glass features a molded mark on the underside that reads "Siesta Ware" in script. Besides only a touch here and there of expected wear, the glasses and their caddy remain in outstanding vintage condition.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to find Siesta Ware sets in any state of completion, especially in such spectacular condition as this one!
