This incredibly dapper "Sovereign" Stetson vintage fedora is by far one of the best we have ever seen. The hat remains in outstanding condition and evokes a sense of pure 1960's style.
The hat is made from the highest-quality beaver velour in a beautiful shade of deep black.
A young American entrepreneur in the mid 1800s, John B. Stetson had a colorful life. By the 1860s, John B. was panning for gold in Colorado.
When he was trapped in the mountains and threatened by horrible weather, he needed to keep warm and dry. He noticed how beavers' pelts repelled water in streams, so he trapped a few and created a thick fur felt that he used to make a tent, which kept him warm and dry.
His creativity created a legend, and by 1886, Stetson owned the world's biggest hat factory in Philadelphia and employed nearly 4,000 workers. The factory was putting out about 2 million hats a year by 1906.
The hat has all the classic "fedora" details: a crease in the crown, an ever-so-slightly upturned brim and pinches on each side of the front.
A band of beautifully woven silken cord wraps around the outer-band and terminates under a small hackle of pheasant feathers on the right side.
The sienna, red and ocher shades of the feathers create the perfect complement of colors against the soft black of the velour.
As you can see, the front left side of the brim is slightly less curved, creating the a dashing and jaunty accent.
Inside, the hat is lined with beautiful striped satin and features the Stetson crest imprinted on the underside of the crown in vivid red and gold.
The inner-band is lined with a wide strip of genuine black leather.
The style name "The Sovereign Stetson" is printed in elegant gold script on the left side of the band and neighbors the Stetson crest which reads "John B. Stetson Company".
We are thrilled to say that the hat comes in its original Stetson hatbox.
The box is imprinted several times with the Stetson name and logo and features a special cardboard cradle inside for storing the hat perfectly.
While the box shows some wear and age, the fedora remains in outstanding, near-mint condition.
This is such a hot look on women, but is also cool for a retro inspired man.
As ideal for display as it is for wear, we recommend the mad hatter make this beauty a part of their collection today.
