Rare Milo Baughman Burlwood and Brass Coffee Table

We are delighted to present this rare, gorgeous vintage Milo Baughman coffee table. Milo Baughman is one of the most notable mid-century modern furniture designers.

It features the distinctive maple burl veneer and sleek modern style that has characterized so many of Baughman's timeless designs.

Milo Ray Baughman, Jr., was one of America's leading modern furniture designers in the mid-20th-century.

His designs were characterized by a distinctly unique and forward-thinking look while remaining unexaggerated and affordable.

Baughman designed for a number of furniture companies, but his longest relationship was with Thayer Coggin Inc. which lasted from 1953 until Baughman's death in 2003.

His style was decidedly sleek, opting to make elegant wood finishes the focal point.

Baughman furniture has become incredibly collectible in recent years, prized for its uncommon style and unmatched quality.

This exquisite coffee table boasts a substantial piece of wood in the center which is covered in a 1/16" thin maple burl veneer (this is typical of Baughman pieces).

The top features four pieces of veneer which intersect at the center creating an almost invisible seam. What is created is a beautiful mirror-image of the burl grain.

Both sides of the coffee table are characterized by three parallel brass bars which bend at a 90 degree angle flush with the wood. These bars are held in a separated position by silver-tone "spacers" near the floor.

The brass shows some light oxidization and spotting, but still has most of its original sheen. Some of the brass components on the underside of the table show slightly darker wear and some areas of light verdigris, though the table remains in very good vintage condition overall.

This coffee table is a truly remarkable example of Milo Baughman's distinct yet timeless style.
