Victorian Black Walnut S-Shaped Roll Top Desk

One of the classic high grade desks from the era of J. P Morgan, the Vanderbilts, etc. An S-Roll-Top in black walnut with paneled sides, 16 interior drawers, 22 slot compartments for paper etc., over a lower section with one wide drawer flanked by four drawers left of kneehole and two over one large drawer on the right side. The lower right (two-drawers) are really one drawer sized for files, etc.

Probably American origin, circa early 20th century. The tambour mechanism in the s-roll is in good working order smoothly operating up and down for opening and closing. The lock does not have a key and therefore is not working. Lock appears to be original, I might be able to have one made if you purchase desk and want me to contact one of the key and lock men in my area (CT) before delivery to purchaser.

Condition of the desk is very good. A top notch restoration expert took the desk in old color and cleaned it up and polished it to make it look fantastic like when it was new. Some of the interior knobs are replaced and there are slight imperfections as one might see in an old piece such as wear, shrinkage, slight staining, etc. Has beautiful patina! Grand and glorious in person!

If you are looking for a great desk for your office or home and this is the kind of desk you had in mind, here it is. Vintage, quality, antique roll-top desk, circa 1905 in good estate condition.

Dimensions: 5 feet wide, 35" deep, 50.5" height.
