Polymer Clay One Wildlife Hinged Cabochon Bracelet with Parrot
Last week I made a bracelet similar in intent, but it had and has SIX cabochon compartments all of which I filled with soft clay similarly decorated with a wildlife scene, baked and finished it with sanding and a light coat of varnish. Within two days over a hundred people had clicked on it for a closer look, a record for this shop. (That is a LOT of hits, AND they come from less than ten percent of shop visitors, registered visitors only, so it was probably more like a thousand.)
Nobody purchased it, and I think one reason might be that it's huge, and most women's wrists aren't huge.
The BASE of this CABOCHON in the ring blank is 1"x.75". I millimeters it's 28x20mm. That is a lot smaller than last week's cabs.
This one is a better size. It's 7.5" and has only one cabochon, and that cabochon area is horizontal on the blank to the other lines in the bracelet. It's the only one I had like that. I decorated it very much like I decorated the cabochon compartments in that huge silvertone bracelet of last week.
Because I THINK it's possible that the one with six cabs is so desirable for closer looks because of the red parrots, I did put a red parrot into this wildlife scene. Can you find it? It is a sweet parrot. I know that a lot of you reading this have parrots. I know because you write to me about them. (My husband just placed in my hand a three week old baby parrot, and I fell so in love with it that I told him it's mine. "Wouldn't your rather have one of the one's in the other cage?" "NO. I'm in love. This little fellow clung to my pinky and kissed me. This is mine. I already feel the new mother oxytocin in me." He will not be red. I told Norman to put him back in the breeding box. He needs his Mommy and Daddy and they need him and his brother (who Norman was holding). But I WILL hand feed him once a day beginning today.)
I put a little box in some of the pictures, because it was the only way to keep the strongly hinged bracelet opened for the photo shoot.
I'm going to do pricing in a new way. I'm putting new things in the store at my lowest price. I won't write sale on them. After a week (two at the longest) I'll increase the price to what I really feel I need to ask for the work. Thus, I'm going to be doing a "reverse sale" way of operating. It will benefit most people who buy what they want as soon as it's listed. I may or may not participate in RED TAG sales. If I do, I will only put items made before today, 9/25/2012 into these sales. I am putting so much of myself into my work these days that I have to begin to earn more than minimum wage. I'm still not asking you to pay for my cotton lined gift boxes, but you will have to pay two extra dollars for a tracking number: (They cost nearly a dollar and to get one I have to DRIVE a fair distance to the post office and wait in line.)
Thanks for your visit.
