Sterling Zodiac Sun Star Brooch Original Box

This is a very cool starburst or sun brooch with 12 rays each dotted with a clear rhinestone. A blue rhinestone sits at the center, possibly representing the aquamarine gemstone which is the birthstone for March. The 12 symbols of the Zodiac circle the center stone. This piece is sterling silver with a light gold wash, called vermeil, in a brushed pattern.

The Zodiac refers to the 12 constellations of stars that we now attribute different human personality types. The Zodiac is a symbol as well as a collection of symbols, it is a circle of completion, a continually turning wheel and is divided into a spiritually perfect number, 12.

Brooch measures 1 3/8 inches diameter and weighs 8.3 grams. Hallmarked 'Ster' for sterling silver with a maker's mark that is unclear. Comes with a red velvet lined gold toned box. Excellent, vintage condition, a lovely design and a unique piece!
