Vintage Copper Southwestern Belt Necklace
A unique vintage piece that is long enough to wear as a belt and can be worn as a necklace too. Copper oval disks with Southwestern/tribal style etchings alternate with circles. Simple hook closure.
Measures 31 1/2 inches long. The oval disks measure 3/4 inch wide. A Renoir copper belt with the same design in the disks is pictured in the book "Signed Beauties of Costume Jewelry, Volume II" by Marcia Brown on p. 133. Some Renoir pieces were unsigned so it is likely that this is a Renoir piece. The Renoir line did include copper belts. They invented a baking process that resulted in a special finish that kept the copper looking like new. At 60 grams, this piece has a nice weight to it without being too heavy. Excellent, vintage condition.
