Presenting a blown amber glass darning egg with handle. This blown glass darning egg has a ground and polished pontil mark. Amber glass was popular in the United States after the 1860's and there were glass houses in America which produced amber glass. Another source for amber glass was Czechoslovakia. This darning egg with handle measures 5 1/2" long and is pictured in the "Darn It !" book on Darners by Wayne Muller, Plate 279, Page 123.
