Vintage Sepia Postcard Waikiki Lau Yee Chai Honolulu Hawaii Happy New Year

This is a standard 3/5" by 5" in good condition. This one is RARE!. On the back as follows: Once a year at Lau eye chinese new years is celebrated. Don't miss Our Chinese celebration at Lau Yee Chai... The celebration is marked by a beautiful display of blooming Narcissus as wellas a Chinese tea ceremony.. The background shown here is the famious UTOPIA BY THE ARTIST BICK KAI HO.

A little about the artist in early hawaii that I could find on the web: Here's the story behind the story of that very impressive and beautiful mural, titled Shangri-La, hanging in the Lau Yee Chai chopstickery. It was created in 1946 by one Bik Kai Ho, a stranded artist in Hawaii at the time trying to earn enough money so he could return to China. In those days, art canvas was in short supply in Honolulu. He eventually was able to salvage some from warships here and sewed them together. On this canvas he created a beautiful original 41-foot-wide by 12-foot-high painting that covers almost the entire back wall of Lau Yee Chai ...

I wonder if he earned enough money painting murals to make it back to China just after WWII. This will be mailed domestically with an padded envelope and a stamp.
