Arkansas Sharpening Stone

This stone is a natural brown Arkansas measuring 8" long by 1 1/8" wide. In the box it measures 9 1/2" long by 1 5/8" wide and 3" tall.

But the real prize here is the user made box. The wood is a richly grained rosewood with a wonderfully scroll cut "cupid's bow" shape to the bottom. The user name punched in the box is Jn McKEE C.

Artisan McKEE was likely a carver as this stone was sized for narrow chisels, gouges or knives. The wood choice for the box and the care with which the box was made suggests this was his favorite stone.
