Gloucester Schooner Weathervane

This all copper ship weathervane is modeled from the Gloucester fishing schooners that became popular in the 1880's. This style of schooner is still made today. The form is characterized by the taller aft mast, bow sprit and twin jibs and was likely made in the 1930's. We found this in Massachusetts and suspect the form was popular along the New England coast especially where ties to the fishing industry were especially strong.

This vane measures 24 1/4" long by 23" tall (27 1/8" tall in the contemporary stand) and 4" wide. The condition is excellent with no losses and no repairs. The nicely aged verdigris surface is consistent over the entire ship.

Due to the size and shape of this weathervane it will need special packing and shipping to insure it arrives safely. We will quote shipping costs at the time of your interest. We do offer personal delivery within 100 miles of Philadelphia and in New England in line with our frequent travels there.
