Painted Folk Art Sheet Metal Rooster
The construction is remarkable. The two sheet metal sides were first cut and shaped and then joined using small tabs on the exterior of one side, which were bent over the other side - much like the paper dolls of yesteryear. See the photos for this detail.
It is painted in warm yellow with red accents. It is marked "LEONCOTE" or LOONCOT" on the lower left side. See the detailed photo of the mark. We found this in New York but believe it originated in Quebec.
The surface is original with no overpainting. There are some minor losses to the paint.
