Black Americana Painted Wall Box with a Head Profile

We were quite taken with the simple design yet strong impact of this wall box. The black painted box uses the cut-out form of a man's head with minimal embellishment to make its statement.

Other than a nicely canted front piece, the box is simply made with thick pine stock. The joints are nailed with late 19th century nails. The box measures 10 3/4" wide, 18 1/4" tall and 7" deep. The surface looks to be original. It is stamped with the initials "AS" on the lower right corner of the back.
