EArly Wooden Trencher Bowl

Here is a nice example of a hand hewn oblong wooden bowl in maple. It has an interesting cross-grain pattern which is unique in trenchers like this. In most cases the grain runs along the length.

The carver added a nice touch with hand holds under each end. It is well sized at 17 1/2" long by 9 5/8" wide and 2 1/2" deep. There is a 4" shrinkage split in the bottom.
