We really like the look of this guy. Carved and painted - red torso, arms and hat; black trousers; white v-neck, boots and head. The male figure stands 13" tall, 17 1/4" tall when including his raised arm. In the stand it measures 31 1/2" tall. The face is carved and painted and has brad bead eyes. As is typical with early whirligigs, there are paddles for hands.
The condition is very good with a repair to the paddle on the right hand. The surface looks original except for the upper torso which has been professionally restored to correct a very amateur attempt to over-paint the face. The repaired right paddle has also been repainted.
The base appears to be original which sits in a contemporary stand.
This is a nice example of a 19th Century figural whirligig complete with a funky hat.
